More bioI have been a graphic designer for more than thirty-five years. Before that I was a commercial photographer.
I started using PhotoShop soon after the release of version 2. To be honest, I didn't like it all that much and never learned how to use it until 2.5 came out (a whole different animal) and even then, it was not my program of choice. I used Freehand and Illustrator for most of my work and Letraset's ColorStudio for raster imaging.
Most of these years were spent doing production for commercial printing using the old methods of literally cutting, pasting, layering and masking.
With the advent of digital photography I began to spend more and more time doing photo prep and retouching, and eventually returned part-time to commercial photography. I now enjoy producing inkjet art prints as a hobby.
I am currently the Creative Director for a small agency and spend a lot of time working with entry level artists. I enjoy showing them tricks and shortcuts and am always delighted to learn something from them as well.
I don'’t consider myself an expert in any field, but find that I have tucked away a lot of otherwise useless information that spills out of me if given the slightest provocation. I also continue to absorb (albeit, much more slowly) new techniques and ideas whenever I can come across them and delight in passing them on.
